well, small status update.
not much to mention, currently wondering how early I'll go to bed.
(probably around 2:00 or 3:00 AM CET (say what you want, but that is early))
I'm mostly searching a bit for what I'll get as a new NAS* and computer.
probably going for an Intel Core i3 for the NAS and A Core i5 of i7 for my desktop.
do already know the NAS will get 8GB DDR3, the 8GB being a requirement to use ZFS.
(ZFS has a recommended minimum of 6GB for FreeBSD, but since my NAS gets several tasks its best to use 2GB extra)
although I will be building a fairly powerful machine its quite unlikely I'll be using an SSD, although they are fast,
I find them too expensive, and yes, they are expensive, there's a difference between something being worth its price and it being cheap.
the price for storage media is normally compared using the PPG (Price Per Gigabyte), which for SSD's is still way above that of HDD's.
the PPG for HDD's is around 0.19 Euro while the PPG for an SSD is around 0.80 Euro.
and yes, they are worth it, but they simply don't fit my budget.
in, for many, surprising news: I bought an Xbox 360 Slim.
there are some on here who think that wouldn't happen until hell would freeze over, but
it actually did.
for anyone who wants to add me on XBox Live my user-name is Foxofinfinety (like on most places).
probably will be a bit before I start to play though.
*Network Attached Storage, though mine does a bit more then just storage.
